Frequently Asked Questions

Is Briefly free?

Yes. Briefly is free to download and use, with no ads. Every story, every morning and evening brief to read, one full audio brief a day, the Markets watchlist, and the home screen widget are free. Briefly+ is an optional subscription that adds every audio brief, Ask Briefly, offline briefs, portfolio tracking, spoken market briefs, and crypto price alerts.

How do the audio briefs work?

Around 6 AM and 6 PM local time (7 AM and 7 PM in central Europe), Briefly publishes a brief of five stories that one AI narrator reads in about three minutes. Every brief is free to read, and one full listen a day is free; Briefly+ unlocks every edition. Audio keeps playing in the background, with controls on the lock screen and in Control Center on iPhone and iPad, or in the notification shade on Android.

How do I cancel my Briefly+ subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by the store you subscribed through. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose Briefly, and tap Cancel Subscription. On Android, open Subscriptions in the Google Play Store app, or Google Play’s subscriptions page in a browser, choose Briefly, and tap Cancel subscription. Briefly+ stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.

I subscribed on another device. How do I get Briefly+ back?

On the same kind of device, make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID (iPhone or iPad) or Google account (Android) you subscribed with, open the Briefly+ screen in the app, and tap Restore Purchases. Moving between iPhone and Android? Sign in to Briefly with the same Apple or Google account on both: a subscription bought on one platform unlocks Briefly+ on the other.

How do I delete my account?

If you signed in with Apple or Google, open the Profile tab on iPhone, iPad or Android, go to the Account section, tap Delete account, and confirm by typing DELETE. This permanently removes your account, preferences, saved stories, reading history, watchlist and portfolio entries, price alerts, and Ask Briefly questions from Briefly’s servers. Without an account, the same place offers Delete my data. You can also ask without the app: email support@trdventures.net from the address on your account with the subject “Delete my Briefly account”. The Delete your Briefly account section below has the details, including what is kept and what happens if you never signed in.

Where does the news come from?

Briefly summarizes reporting from a fixed list of outlets across the political spectrum, including wire services, national and international news organizations, and business, technology, and sports publications. Every story names its outlet and links to the original article. How Briefly Works explains how outlets are chosen and stories ranked.

How do I report a mistake in a story or brief?

Email support@trdventures.net with the headline, when you saw it, and what is wrong; a screenshot helps. How Briefly Works explains what happens next.

Is the market data real-time?

No. Quotes and charts come from third-party providers and are delayed; the app shows when each quote is from. Price alerts cover crypto prices only. Nothing in Briefly is investment advice.

The Home Screen widget isn’t updating. What should I do?

The widget shows the headlines Briefly saved the last time the app loaded its feed or brief, so open the app to refresh it. On iPhone and iPad, small, medium, and large widgets show one, two, and five headlines and need iOS 17 or later. On Android, the widget resizes, from one headline at its smallest to five at its largest. If the widget stays blank, remove it and add it again.

Is Briefly on Android or the web?

Android, yes. Briefly is on Google Play for Android 7.0 or later, and on the App Store for iPhone and iPad with iOS 15 or later. There is no web version.
